how to tell if arm on fuelpump is against eccentric on camshaft properly?

If u r dealing with a small block - remove old fuel pump, carefully without using the gasket, trial fit the new pump over the studs by tilting the pump arm down slightly to clear the eccentric on the cam & then square the mounting surface to the block as best u can. As u push the pump towards the block u should feel resistance & the pump will want to turn up again at this point u have the pump arm against the eccentric.

Try this a few times until u r confident u have the arm on the eccentric, then install gasket, slide pump onto studs & start nuts. Draw pump against block evenly by alternating side to side.

If u r lucky & the cam eccentric is turned away from the pump, the resistance felt is less but still apparent, otherwise the resistance is fairly strong. After the pump is bolted to the block, install fuel lines, start car & check for leaks. If there r any adapters on ur old pump install them (if necessary) on ur new pump before installation, a bit easier sometimes to do so.

Good luck & take ur time.

It,s really easy, remove the old pump .If you are lucky it will come off with easily. If not you will have push it self off.Getting it back on may be a little problem. This is when you call a buddy to help push it on while you bolt it up.It,s not as difficult as it may seem.MOPARS RULE!!!!!!!!!!

they will usally line up most of the time, and putting it back on is ''real fun'' just do not curse too much! But if you have smaller fingers it is a bit easier, so if you have a kid that knows left from right and is not afraid to get a bit dirty then hold it in place and have them start the bolts back in!!
