Remove the negative battery cable for 30 seconds, this will reset the pcm. If the light persists, see a mechanic. Good luck!

you,ll have to find some one that has a scanner that will clear the check engine light,it has to be done with a scanner,to make it go off and stay off,taking the battery cable off will make it go off temporarily ,but it might come back on,good luck ,hope this helps.

you could also check into getting a Code Reader for your car, most can also reset the lights and etc and a good is will only run ya about 40bucks, can get at any part store maybe even Wal-Mart

if you know why it was on and fixed the problem then remove the batt cables for 10or 20 mins the reconnect and it will reset the computer if you did not fix the problem and you do step one it will come back on in 25 or 30 miles l hope this helps

On an OBDI l system, when the light is reset, it shows up as being recently reset when scanned. If u r trying to get past an emissions test, it wo not make it by simply resetting the light. They will see that it was reset & ask u to come back.

If u had a problem & fixed it, the light will go off & the affected code will go away in a couple of days. You do not need to reset the computer for this to happen.

To properly reset the light, u will need a scan tool with the reset capability. Some of the cheapest tools will read the codes, but not reset the light. Hope this helps.

If the ECM has a ''soft code'' a reset will make the light go off. It might have just been a momentary problem.

If the ECM has a ''hard code'' the light will go off, but the code will not go away. This would indicate a hard (persistent) problem that needs to be addressed. The light will come back on after a while, if the trouble is persistent.
