Hot wire it. LOL.just kidding. You could probably contact a local dealership and maybe they can help you. Or change the ignition switch all together. I've never been in a situation like this before but, l hope it works out for you.

can have it towed to dealer so they can change your locks and give matching keys.

As stated, the dealer can get the key code with the VIN. He can also provide it to you for your future use. A Locksmith can cut a key easily with the code. He can also do it without the code. A locksmith would also be a better choice to get the broken key out.

Get the VIN # off you car - go to a Chrysler dealership, they can cut you a key - the VIN# (should you not know) is on the driver side of the windshield

l did not know this until recently, they say that thief is can get the VIN# off your car, have a key make and steel your car so they suggest covering the VIN# up w/ a piece of electrical/duck tape so this can not happen.

You will probably have to have a pro remove the key from your trunk

The above posts r correct, but just to clarify a few things here.

Yes, the dealer can cut a key by VIN. To verify that u r the owner of the vehicle, they should ask u for proof of ownership & a picture ID. Proof of ownership can be title, registration receipt, or a current insurance card as long as the item has the VIN & ur name. (Locksmith should also ask for this information when making a key.)

Anyone can write down ur VIN number while the vehicle is parked, but they wo not have the proof of ownership & picture ID needed to get the keys cut. The manufacturer keeps a record of who requested a key code & when, so the dealer needs to have a copy of that information to prove who they cut it for.

VERY IMPORTANT!! In some areas, it is ILLEGAL to cover up ur VIN while ur vehicle is parked in a public place. The reason being that that is the way police verify the tags match the vehicle, tag thieves will employ this tactic to keep a stolen tag on their vehicle.

Besides that, the vehicle would have to be there long enough for the thief to get the VIN, go to the dealer, wait for the dealer to get the code from the manufacturer, cut the key, pay for the key, then come back to the vehicle to steal it. Not a likely tactic to be used by a thief stealing an individuals vehicle.

This is not to say it wo not happen, or can not happen, but the chances of it being broken into & hot-wired or being stolen in some other fashion r much higher than being stolen by keys cut by VIN. It all boils down to if a thief really wants it, they will get it one way or another.

As far as making the key, the locksmith is usually more expensive than going to the dealer. But they will probably be more experienced at removing the broken part of the key than the dealer.
